Congratulations to our 2022-2023 Scholarship Winner, Maggie Parker Andrews!
Maggie Parker Andrews graduated summa cum laude with her Bachelor of Arts degree in Religious Studies from Agnes Scott College in December 2019. During her time, she wrote her undergraduate thesis on religious trauma, which she had the pleasure of presenting at conferences worldwide including at UGA, John's Hopkins University, and the Oxford University. Her time at Agnes Scott is what sparked her passion for ministry and for trauma studies as she worked with underprivileged youth and homeless mothers at Hagar's House in Decatur.
Maggie is currently a CBF scholar and is in her third year at Mercer University- McAfee School of Theology in Atlanta, GA pursuing her Master of Divinity degree with a trauma studies specialization. She is the current Resident Pastor for Children and Families at First Baptist Church in Decatur, GA and she is a Graduate Assistant in the Center for Outreach and Alumni Relations at McAfee. She also continues her thesis work in partnership with the Global Center for Religious Research in Denver, Colorado as a religious trauma research fellow.
In her free time, Maggie enjoys watching the braves play baseball, attending local country music concerts, traveling, and she even aspires to see all 7 wonders of the world in her lifetime! Maggie currently lives in Buford, and also loves spending time with her service dog, Theo, a shepherd mix, and her husband, Matt who both bring so much joy to her life!
